Greeks at UofT
The Greek System at the University of Toronto helps students to meet new people and develop a large network of friends. In a University as large as ours, it can often be difficult to find a sense of belonging.
The UofT greek community enjoys philanthropic, social, leadership, and academic activities. We provide our members with skills that help them thrive academically and prepare for the future.
As a participating member of the Greek System, one also participates in rituals that are unique to the specific sorority and the fraternity. Ritual is a way to celebrate the traditions of your sorority or fraternity that have lasted for over a century. Additionally, the Greek community is strictly against hazing, and does not engage in any form of it whether it is initiation or any other type of ritual.
The structure of a fraternity or a sorority varies, but both allow members to gain positions that build leadership skills. Many University of Toronto fraternities and sororities have meetings every Monday night to discuss future events, and the overall workings within the chapter.
One of the most amazing features of being a member of the Greek system is that you have a lifetime membership to your fraternity or sorority, and can stay involved as an alumnus by being an advisor, leadership consultant, or other such position.
In all, the Greek way of life allows one to grow and learn, have fun, and create long-lasting friendships, and we eagerly await new members to share in the traditions of Greek life!
